PDP Nat’l Caucus Retains Damagun as Chairman, Says State Congresses to Go as Planned

The national caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it is backing the Acting National Chairman of the party, Amb. Illiya Damagun to continue in office.

The caucus also agreed that all state and local government congresses of the party must be concluded by August this year.

These were disclosed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba who spoke to journalists after the national caucus meeting on Wednesday night. Ologungba stated that the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold today in Abuja will not discuss the tenure of the current leadership of the party, but will focus on the moves to reconcile various warring interests in the party.

The Publicity Secretary said that the, “NEC meeting will not discuss any change in leaders. Rather, attention is focused on unity and reconciliation.

“Caucus agreed that all congresses in the states and local government should be concluded between June and August this year.

“Caucus agreed on the extension of the constitution review committee of the party to accept new recommendations.”
