JUST IN: Tribunal Removes APC Senator, Declares Natasha Akpoti of the PDP Winner in Kogi Central

The Kogi State National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ms Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan  as the rightful winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election held on February 25, 2023.

In a judgement delivered by the Chairman of the Tribunak, Justice K. A.Orjiako, the tribunal subsequently invalidated the victory of Senator Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the unanimous judgement endorsed by the three man panel, the tribunal held that the APC candidate inflated results in nine polling units in Ajaokuta local government area of the state.

The tribunal further held that the votes of the PDP candidate were omitted in the collation of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

After tabulating the valid votes, the tribunal then declared Ms Akpoti-Uduaghan of the PDP as  the winner of the election with 54,074 votes,  while that APC candidate who polled 51,291 votes.
