Supreme Court Rules Against Nnamdi Kanu

 

The Supreme Court, has upheld the appeal by the federal government, challenging the Court of Appeal decision, which ordered Kanu’s release.

 

The apex court ordered him to return to the Federal High Court, Abuja, to face the seven-count terrorism terrorism charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.

 

The Supreme Court fixed the date after counsel for both the federal government and the detained the IPOB leader adopted their final briefs of argument.

 

Chief Mike Ozehkome, SAN, Kanu’s lead counsel argued that the appeal prayed the court to not only order the immediate release of his client from detention but to equally award very heavy and punitive costs against the Federal Government.

 

But the Federal Government insisted through its counsel, Tijani Ghazali urged the Supreme Court ⁸to uphold the amended brief of argument he filed on May 3, 2023.
