Relocate NNPCL, NIMASA to Niger Delta if You Must Relocate FAAN to Lagos -APC Chieftain Dares Tinubu

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Yekini Nabena has lashed out at President Bola Tinubu over the plan of the Federal Government to relocate Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and some sections of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to Lagos State.

Nabena in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction over the move to move several agencies of the government away from Abuja.

Nabena who was a one time Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC contended that President Tinubu should equally move the Headquarters of the  Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), NIMASA and other related ministries to the Niger Delta region if indeed the President’s decision was hinged on proximity to the location of the activities of the ministries or agencies.

Part of the statement reads:

“If efficiency of these agencies is the main reason for the plan to relocate them to Lagos State, we from the Niger Delta are also asking that the NNPCL, NIMASA, NPA and others will be more effective in either Bayelsa, Rivers or Delta states.

“In the same way, the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel should be moved to Kogi State where we have the Ajaokuta Steel for efficiency.

“I also believe that the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment should either be relocated to Kano or Anambra states where trade is done in high proportion.

“In the same way, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture should be taken to Benue State, the food basket of the bation.”

Nabena accused President Tinubu being divisive in his approach to national issues noting that Tinubu had already in 1997 declared that he does not believe in Nigeria.

The APC former spokesman also accused the National Assembly of complicity in the misgovernance under President Tinubu. Nabena stated that the National Assembly was keeping quiet while public resources are looted by government officials.

“Nigeria is being looted within six months of this government and the National Assembly is keeping quiet as if nothing is happening.

“The National Assembly has not seen anything wrong in the Betta Edu scandal where billions of our patrimony is being played with,” Nabena said.
