PDP Loses Again as Appeal Court Affirms Election of Benue Gov, Fr. Alia

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed the election of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State.

The court on Monday dismissed the appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Titus Uba against the declaration of Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

In a unanimous judgment, Justice Onyekachi Aja Otisi the Chairman of the 3-man panel of the appellate court held that the allegation of non-qualification preferred against the Deputy Governor, Samuel Ode was not proven by the PDP candidate.

The court thereby upheld the ruling of the Benue State Election Petition Tribunal that earlier dismissed the petition of the PDP.
