Appeal Court Sacks Kano Governor

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Governor of Kano State, Mallam Mallam Kabor Yusuf.

 

The appellate court upheld the decision the Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadebey led Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that deducted 165, 663 votes from the votes of Governor Yusuf who was the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The Appeal Court ruled that Mallam Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the validity elected Governor of Kano State in the March 18, governorship election in the state.

The votes were deducted from the NNPP votes because the ballot papers were not signed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
