Two LEA Staff Killed in Bomb Blast on Damboa Maiduguri Highway

Two staff members of the Damboa Local Education Authority (LEA) lost their lives on Monday in a deadly bomb explosion along the Damboa–Maiduguri highway in Borno State.

The victims, identified as Blessings Luka and Gideon Bitterleaf, were reportedly traveling from Damboa to Maiduguri when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED), suspected to have been planted by insurgents.

Eyewitnesses said the victims were seated in the front of a Toyota Hiace van transporting mangoes when the device detonated. The explosion killed them instantly and left several others injured.

A source within the Damboa Local Government confirmed their identities, describing both individuals as “committed and hardworking education officials” who had served the local authority diligently.

Security operatives have since cordoned off the scene of the attack. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
