The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje and Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State on Tuesday stormed the National Assembly and three senators defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC.

The lawmakers are, Senator Adamu Aliero (Kebbi central), Senator  Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North) and Senator Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South).

The three lawmakers officially defected when the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin who presided at the plenary read their letters to the hearing of their colleagues. The lawmakers cited “unresolved divisions” in the PDP both at the national level and in Kebbi State as their main reason for leaving the party

According to Jibrin, “It shows that there will be a lot of successes and victories for the APC in the future. It is just a testimony, a kind of a sign of what is going to happen,” he said.

“For the first time, we have a progressive president of this country and Nigerians are beginning to understand the ideas of progressive politic

“I know, by the grace of God, any future election—all the future elections in the future—victory will come our way.

“So let me congratulate Mr President and the party chairman, and I urge you to continue on this good work you are doing for the party and the nation at large.”

Ganduje had last week led the three senators on a courtesy visit to President Tinubu where they briefed the president on their decision to join the ruling party.
