On Friday, Turkey’s Interior Minister announced that 99 individuals suspected of being members of the Islamic State had been detained in recent nationwide raids.
These arrests primarily occurred in Ankara, Izmir, and various regions including the central, eastern, and southern parts of the country.
Turkish authorities have conducted several large-scale arrests of alleged IS members in recent years, with the most recent being a roundup of 147 people announced in March.
Following those arrests, the total number of individuals detained for suspected links to IS has reached 2,919.
Local authorities have also reported that two of the attackers involved in the March massacre at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, for which IS claimed responsibility and which resulted in 145 deaths, had spent several weeks in Turkey before traveling to Russia
