‘Its Not ‘Worth Dying for’ Obiora Okonkwo Says as He Withdraws From APC Primary Election

Dr, Obiora Okonkwo, a governorship aspirant in Anambra State on the platform of All Progressives Congress  (APC) has announced his withdrawal  from the race ahead of the primary election of the party underway in Anambra State.

 

Okonkwo in a press statement he personally signed on Saturday stated that his aspiration was not “worth dying for.

 

Part of the statement reads: “My aspirations are not worth dying for. It’s never a do-or-die affair—it’s a call to service. If the process is not fair or just, then it ceases to be service. I will never risk the lives of my supporters for it.

“Prof. Obiora Okonkwo officially withdraws from the APC primaries and wishes the other aspirants the very best of luck.”

Dr. Okonkwo is the Chairman of Nigeria’s rising local carrier, United Nigeria Airlines. He contested the last Anambra State governorship election where he initially lost the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  Ticket to Mr. Valentine Ozigbo.

Dr. Okonkwo eventually contested the election on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and lost to Professor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
