President Tinubu Remains Fully Engaged in Governance While Abroad- Presidency

Despite his brief absence from the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he remains firmly at the helms of Nigeria’s governance, maintaining active communication with key officials and directing critical national operations.

The Presidency confirmed this on Thursday in a statement released by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Presidency assured Nigerians that President Tinubu’s current stay in Europe is temporary and in line with the earlier communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe,” Onanuga stated. “His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe.”

It was confirmed that after a brief stop in Paris, the President traveled to London over the weekend, from where he continues to discharge his responsibilities. He has been in constant contact with senior government officials, particularly on matters of national security.

“From London, the President has continued to issue directives, including those to security chiefs to address emerging threats in parts of the country,” the statement noted, underlining his commitment to safeguarding national stability.

The Presidency also reiterated that President Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja and resume official duties at Aso Villa following the conclusion of the Easter holiday.

“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership,” Onanuga emphasized.

Assuring the public of seamless governance, the Presidency acknowledged widespread interest in the President’s whereabouts but emphasized that there has been no disruption to the operations of government.

“We appreciate the public’s concern and assure all Nigerians that governance proceeds without interruption,” the statement concluded.

President Tinubu’s administration has faced growing demands for transparency and accountability, particularly regarding public officials’ travel and accessibility. This latest communication is seen as a move to reinforce public trust and maintain continuity in leadership during the President’s brief stay abroad.
