Police Arrest More Suspects, Gunrunners in Plateau Killings Probe

The Nigeria Police Force has made further progress in its investigation into the recent killings in Plateau State, arresting three additional suspects and recovering illegal firearms in a series of targeted operations.

According to a statement from Force Headquarters, the operations were led by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and focused on criminal conspiracy, gunrunning, and unlawful possession of firearms—all linked to earlier attacks in the state.

On May 3, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., IRT officers arrested one Abubakar Jibrin in Kalone Community, Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State. The suspect was allegedly found in possession of prohibited firearms, and his confession led to the recovery of one submachine gun (SMG) rifle with an empty magazine from his residence.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, called on the public to remain calm and continue supporting police efforts. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in restoring peace across Plateau and other affected regions.

The Police assured that investigations are ongoing and reiterated its resolve to bring all perpetrators to justice.
