Ojulari Pledges to Build an “NNPC That’ll Be the Pride of Nigerians”, attract $30 billion in sectoral investments

The newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, has vowed to build a company that all Nigerians can be proud of, promising to transform the national oil giant into a world-class, people-driven and innovation-led energy corporation.

Speaking during his first townhall meeting with staff at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Thursday, Ojulari described the moment as “a huge honour and responsibility,” adding that “NNPC Ltd. means a lot to Nigeria and its future.”

“We stand at the gateway of a new era—one that demands courage, professionalism, and a relentless drive for excellence,” he said. “The task before us is great, yet the opportunity to redefine Nigeria’s energy future is even greater. Now is the time to turn our transformation promise into performance.”

Outlining his ambitious agenda, the GCEO pledged to attract $30 billion in sectoral investments by 2027 and grow that figure to $60 billion by 2030. He further announced plans to increase crude oil production to over 2 million barrels per day by 2027, and 3 million barrels by 2030. On refining capacity, Ojulari projected a boost to 200,000 barrels per day by 2027, and up to 500,000 barrels by 2030. He also revealed plans to raise gas production to 10 billion cubic feet per day by 2027 and 12 billion by 2030.

“These are not just numbers—they are indicators of hope, jobs, industrial growth, and energy security for millions of Nigerians,” he stated.

To realize these goals, Ojulari emphasized a focus on agility, transparency, and strategic partnerships. “We will reconfigure our business structure for agility and value creation. We will also enforce a robust performance management framework and take control of our narrative,” he said.

The GCEO encouraged staff to take pride in NNPC’s transformation and stay committed to a shared vision of building a more transparent, profitable, and accountable company. “It’s time we tell our story—one of innovation, reform, and national pride,” he said.

On employee development, Ojulari pledged to create an inclusive environment where all staff can thrive. “We will provide the best combination where the experienced and the young will both thrive towards achieving our set targets,” he assured.

He also committed to strengthening collaboration with staff unions and fostering a workplace culture grounded in trust, integrity, and performance.
