The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed a series of sanctions on El-Kanemi Warriors FC over multiple security breaches and misconduct by supporters during their Match-day 34 fixture against Ikorodu City in Maiduguri.

According to a Summary Jurisdiction notice issued by the NPFL, the club was found guilty of violating Rules B13.52, B13:18, and C9 of the league’s Framework and Rules. The violations stemmed from chaotic scenes both before and after the match, which saw unauthorized individuals gain access to restricted areas and match officials allegedly harassed.

For failing to provide adequate and effective security, El-Kanemi Warriors were handed a fine of N1 million. An additional N1 million fine was imposed for the act of their supporters throwing objects onto the field of play.

Furthermore, the league body has ordered the closure of the Maiduguri stadium to fans for the remainder of the season, citing safety concerns and a need to maintain order.

In addition, the club has been instructed to develop and submit a comprehensive match day security and crowd control plan within seven working days.

“The club must implement a more effective match day security framework and crowd control measures,” the NPFL said in the disciplinary notice. “Details of these measures must be submitted to the league body within seven (7) working days from the date of this notice.”
