Nigerian Reps Speaker Condemns  Massacre, Urges Restraint, Renewed Dialogue

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has described as senseless, the brutal terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam, India, which claimed 26 innocent lives and left many others injured.

Speaker Abbas, while condemning the attack, extended his deepest sympathy to the Government and people of India.

The atrocity, in which assailants armed with AK-47s and M4 carbines specifically targeted civilian tourists, stands as the deadliest assault on non-combatants in India since 2008.

The Speaker said the Nigerian Parliament, in full solidarity with international partners, “unequivocally condemns this heinous violence. We deplore all forms of terrorism, which respect neither humanity nor borders.”

Speaker Abbas called upon India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint, reverse recent suspensions of bilateral treaties, and re-engage in constructive dialogue.

He noted that only through measured diplomacy, intelligence-sharing and law-enforcement cooperation, the two countries could prevent further escalation and safeguard the peace and security to which all nations aspire.
