The Anambra State Government has imposed a one-month sanction on Blossom Fount School, located in Awka, for allegedly monetizing a student leadership position.
According to a statement issued on Saturday, May 10, 2025, by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the school demanded N5,000 from each pupil aspiring to become head prefect in its primary section.

Prof. Chuma-Udeh condemned the action, calling it an attempt to “sell the psyche of the children to the highest bidder from the cradle.”
She stressed that such practices are completely unacceptable under the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
An investigation, she added, is currently underway to scrutinize the school’s overall management practices. “Further actions may be taken depending on the outcome of the inquiry,” Chuma-Udeh stated.
