The IGP also expressed interest in establishing a fellowship exchange programme with the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), which he said would foster a deeper, long-term relationship and improve joint capabilities in addressing global security threats.

Lord Hanson echoed the IGP’s remarks, highlighting the shared concerns both countries face regarding transnational crime, particularly cybercrime and fraud.

“Transnational crime remains a major threat, especially fraud, which affects both our nations,” Lord Hanson stated. “The existing cooperation between the UK Government and the Nigeria Police Force has yielded promising results, and we are committed to strengthening it further.”

He noted that the UK Government is fully in support of formalizing the partnership, adding, “We look forward to signing an MoU that will not only solidify our relationship but also provide a structured framework for enhanced collaboration in tackling crime, especially cybercrime.”

Also present at the meeting were senior officers from both delegations, who affirmed their readiness to build on current achievements and align operational strategies in line with international best practices.
