Minister of Defence Urges Unity Among NANS Members Following 2025 Elections

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has called on all factions within the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to put aside electoral grievances and unite in support of the newly elected leadership.

Speaking at the formal inauguration of the 2025 NANS National Executive Members held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja, the Minister urged aggrieved groups to prioritize the collective interests of Nigerian students above all else.

“Elections naturally come with challenges,” he said, “but it is time for unity and collaboration. I urge all those who may have felt wronged during the process to set aside their differences and rally behind the elected leadership to help fulfill the promises made during the campaigns.”

As the grand patron of NANS, Badaru praised the resilience of Nigerian students and acknowledged their active participation during the electoral period. He emphasized the critical role students play in the nation’s development and the importance of sustained cooperation to advance their cause.

The Minister also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to Nigerian students, describing the President’s commitment as “unwavering and instrumental” to shaping a generation of self-reliant and patriotic youths.

Concluding his remarks, Badaru echoed a message of unity: “Let us remain united; united we are. Let us stand united, and the mission will be accomplished.”

The event marked a new chapter for NANS, as the incoming executives were charged with the responsibility of steering the organization toward meaningful student advocacy and national development.
