The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with 1,911,551 candidates’ scores now available. This announcement was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during a press briefing at the board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, on Friday.
Out of the 2,030,862 candidates who registered for the 2025 UTME, 1,957,000 were verified to have sat for the examination conducted across 882 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide. A total of 71,705 candidates were absent, while 2,157 candidates experienced fingerprint rejections due to suspected registration infractions.
The 2025 UTME results indicate a concerning trend in candidate performance. Approximately 78% of candidates scored below 200 out of the 400 obtainable points. Only 0.63% (12,421 candidates) achieved scores of 300 and above, while 24,535 candidates scored less than 100 marks.
A significant number of underage candidates—defined as those below 16 years—participated in the 2025 UTME. Specifically, 41,027 underage candidates registered, with 40,260 sitting for the exam. JAMB has isolated their results for special review, aligning with the Federal Government’s policy that sets 16 years as the minimum age for admission into tertiary institutions. Exceptions may be made for students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, defined by JAMB as scoring 80% or higher (i.e., 320 out of 400).

JAMB continues to uphold the integrity of the examination process. In the 2025 UTME, 96 results were withheld due to examination infractions, and 3,656 results were flagged for impersonation. Furthermore, 97 candidates were directly involved in examination infractions, while another 2,157 are currently under investigation for suspected malpractices.
In a bid to curb examination malpractice, JAMB has also taken disciplinary actions against certain CBT centres. Four centres were delisted for failing to meet the board’s technical and ethical standards. Additionally, 27 individuals were arrested for impersonation during the examination period and have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution.
Demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity, JAMB, in collaboration with the Federal Government, sponsored 37 visually impaired candidates for the UTME in Bauchi State. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to provide equal opportunities for persons with special needs to achieve their educational aspirations.
Candidates can check their UTME results by sending “RESULT” followed by their registration number to either 55019 or 66019 via SMS. JAMB has cautioned candidates to beware of fraudulent websites and scam messages claiming to offer result checking services or rescheduling exams for a fee. Official communications and services are provided exclusively through JAMB’s designated channels.
Prof. Oloyede expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and stakeholders for their support in ensuring the successful conduct of the 2025 UTME. He urged the public to maintain trust in public institutions and reiterated JAMB’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and the continuous improvement of Nigeria’s educational assessment processes.
