“This is not Hope Renewed. This is shege renewed,” Youths Chant as Protest Rocks Ibadan

Protest has broken out at the popular Mokola Roundabout Ibadan with angry placards-carrying youths calling on the government to stem the rising cost of food in the country.

Some of the placards have such inscription as, “End food price hike,” “This is not Hope Renewed. This is shege renewed,” “Tinubu is thief! Tinubu is thief!” etc.

Heavy police presence is however building up around the roundabout and other  “flashpoints,” one of the protesters who spoke to our reporter confirmed that “yes we saw the police cars, but they have not said anything against us, they have children too; how much is police salary.”

Some states including Niger and  Nasarawa have also seen such protests.

Many Nigerians can no longer afford basic food items as prices sky rocket on daily basis with the free fall of the Naira which has further acerbated the situation.
