Edo Governorship Election: PDP Cancels Delegate Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday announced the cancellation of the  Etsako Central ward delegates election in Edo State over an  alleged kidnap of nine electoral officers.

Confirming the cancellation, the Edo State PDP Chairman,  Tony Aziegbemi told journalists in Benin City that the decision to cancel the delegate election was taken by the congress committee led by the governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah.

The party chairman, however stated that the Febraury 22, 2024 scheduled primary election to elect a governorship candidate for the party will not be affected by the cancellation.

He told journalists, “You will agree with me that 31 out of 594 is an insignificant figure which will not have substantial effect on the primary election

“The lives of those who have been kidnapped are important to us and we are praying for their safe return.”
