The Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja, Lagos State has sentenced the Medical Director of Optical Cancer Care Foundation, Dr. Olufemi Olaleye to double life imprisonment for defiling a minor.
The court convicted the doctor on the two count charge of sexual assault by penetration and defilement brought against him by the Lagos State Government.
Delivering his judgement on the matter, Justice Rahaman Oshodi held that the prosecutor proved the two count charge against the doctor.
The victim is a 16 year old niece of the convict.
Despite the not guilty plea of Dr. Olaleye, Justice Oshodi held that the evidence presented before the court against the defendant was compelling and proved the offences beyond reasonable doubt.
The judge further held that the confessional statement of the defendant, made before his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Buruji, and the DPO of Anthony Police Station, in which he stated that he regretted his act, proved that he committed the offences he was charged for.
Sentencing the convict Justice Oshodi said, “You are dangerous offender and you must be ashamed.”
