Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Umo Eno has finally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor officially resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the APC in a ceremony witnessed by seven APC governors in at the Government House House, Uyo, the state capital on Friday.
The governors elected on the APC platform who were in Uyo to welcome Governor Eno to the APC include, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Senator Monday Okpeobholo of Edo State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State.

Announcing his official defection to the APC, Governor Umo Eno declared that, “ I have decided to move progressively to the APC.”
The governor who revealed that he “ consulted widely in the last three months” told his audience that he “ met with all the critical stakeholders of the PDP in the state last night ahead of the official defection.”
He therefore declared that “ We are not joining the APC from the position of weakness, we are joining the APC from the position of strength.”
Governor Eno, however, assured the people of Akwa Ibom State that “ I will uphold my values and my moral fibre.”
Governor Eno stated that he decided to move to enable him effective “ join the train of President Bola Tinubu” to smoothen his re-election in 2027 so that the President will complete the reforms he has started.
