Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu in the early hours of Sunday emerged victorious as he clinched the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the scheduled November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.
Ukachukwu won the ticket in a landslide victory as he polled 1455 Votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, eked out a paltry 67 Vote, while Mr. Johnbosco Onunkwo got 26 votes and Mr. Edozie Mmadu managed to poll 8 votes.
Earlier, FACTSHEET reported that the Chairman of the United Nigeria Airline, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo announced his withdrawal from the contest saying that the ticket was “not worth dying for.”
The results of the primary election was announced by the Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, atabout 4:56 am on Sunday, 6 April 2025.

The primary election which was scheduled to take off by 10AM on Saturday was delayed for more that 16 hours due to what Mr. Valentine Ozigbo referred to as “logistical problems.”
Speaking to party supporters in his acceptance speech, Prince Ukachukwu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring a hitch-free and transparent intraparty election process. He also commended the APC National Working Committee, Governor Bassey Otu and his team, his co-contenders, and all delegates for their roles in the successful conduct of the primary
Prince Ukachukwu noted stated that “the most important thing now is to deliver Anambra to the APC,” as he called on his opponents to close ranks with him to defeat incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
In a grandstanding statement, boasted that “I have been instrumental to the emergence of successive governors in Anambra over the years. I have played the role of a godfather, but now, I am ready to father myself.”
