Troops Neutralise Boko Haram Fighters in Major Sambisa Forest Offensive

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a significant victory against Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest, following a coordinated clearance operation conducted on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

Military sources confirmed that the operation, which took place around the Garin Baaba axis of the forest, led to the neutralisation of several insurgents and the destruction of terrorist assets.

“The operation followed precise aerial reconnaissance which pinpointed enemy positions,” a senior military official disclosed. “Our ground forces moved in swiftly, engaging the terrorists in a fierce but decisive battle.”

Also recovered were pressure plates commonly used in the assembly of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

To prevent the materials from being repurposed for future attacks, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were deployed to the site and safely detonated the explosives.

Speaking on the development, the Defence Headquarters stated that the clearance operation is part of a wider strategy to dismantle Boko Haram’s strongholds in the region.

“Operations are still ongoing in Sambisa and surrounding areas,” the statement read. “Our goal is to eliminate all remaining terrorist enclaves and restore lasting peace to the affected communities.”

The latest offensive is part of an intensified counterterrorism campaign in the North East, supported by the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies under the umbrella of Operation Hadin Kai.

As the military continues its push to reclaim all occupied territories, officials have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting civilians and rebuilding trust in the region’s security architecture.
