A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has sentenced social media content creator, Muhammad Kabir, popularly known as @youngcee0066 on TikTok and Instagram, to six months imprisonment for abusing and mutilating the Nigerian currency.
Justice R.M. Aikawa delivered the judgment on Thursday, offering the convict an option of a N300,000 fine in lieu of serving the jail term.
Kabir, who was arrested on April 13, 2025, in Tudun Wada, Kaduna State, had posted a video on his TikTok and Instagram accounts showing himself spraying and stepping on naira notes. In the video, he made utterances in Hausa language and dared the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest him at his known location.
Following his arrest, Kabir was charged with violating the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the naira.

The charge read: “That you Muhammad Kabir Sa’ad (a.k.a @youngcee0066) sometime in 2025 at Kaduna, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did unlawfully mutilate naira by stepping on the naira banknotes while making a social media video and posting same on the internet, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, punishable under Section 21(1) of the same Act.”
Kabir pleaded guilty to the one-count charge. Prosecution counsel, M.U. Gadaka, subsequently urged the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.
Justice Aikawa in his ruling stated that Kabir’s action was in clear violation of the law, and held that, “The accused is hereby sentenced to six months imprisonment or a fine of N300,000 to be paid to the Federal Government.”
The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, which secured the conviction, reiterated its commitment to upholding financial discipline and protecting the integrity of the Nigerian currency.
