An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has granted an Ex Parte Order giving a go ahead to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to go ahead and conduct its scheduled elective national convention slated to hold in Ibadan, between November 15 and 16, 2025.
The Ex Parte Order comes on the heals of a substantive judgement of the Federal High Court, Abuja which put the convention on hold pending full compliance of the convention with the PDP constitution, the Electoral Act 2022 and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ruling on suit No: 1/1336/2025 brought before the court by the Illiya Damagun faction of the PDP National Working Committee, Justice A. L Akintola held that “The motion ex-parte has merit and succeeds as prayed,”
Justice Akintola granted a temporary relief to the Damagun faction to go ahead with the convention pending the substantive hearing of the suit.

The judge subsequently adjourned the matter November 10, 2025 for substantive hearing of the motion on notice.
The ex-parte motion was filed by Folahan Adelabi against the PDP, its Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; Governor Umaru Fintiri, who heads the National Convention Organising Committee; and the INEC.
FACTSHEET reported that the Senator Samuel Anyanwu led National Working Committee of the PDP on Saturday suspended Ambassador Illiya Damagun and in his place appointed the North Central National Vice Chairman of the party, Hon. Mohammed Abdulrahaman as the Acting National Chairman of the party. Hon. Abdulrahaman officially resumed office on Monday at the Wadata House National Secretariat of the PDP.
