The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has announced the death of one of its former Chairmen, Mallam Suleiman Muhammed Kaura.
The council disclosed this in a statement signed by the Secretary of Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle on Saturday in Abuja.
Mallam Kaura, a retired Controller of News and Current Affairs at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Kaduna, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Barau Diko Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, after a brief illness.

During his distinguished career in journalism, he served as Bureau Chief of FRCN Kaduna in Abuja, where he covered several key beats, including the National Assembly, before his retirement. He was widely respected for his professionalism, mentorship, and unwavering dedication to the journalism profession.
The NUJ FCT Council, colleagues, and members of the media community have described his passing as a painful loss, not only to the union but to the Nigerian media industry as a whole.
The Council prays that Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdausi. Ameen.
It also prays that God grants his family, friends, and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Amen.
