The lawmaker representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams has said that there is nothing wrong if Nigeria becomes a one party-state.
The lawmaker who spoke to journalists at the National Assembly during the address of the joint sitting of the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu, however, stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has no strictly cut-out plan to turn Nigeria into a -one -party state.
But “if all Nigerians are saying it’s only APC, so be it.”
The lawmaker, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly said that the defections witnessed among politicians were the individual decisions of the affected politicians and not a planned path to make Nigeria a one-party state.

He said:
“I don’t know why people would bother about that?
“If your party is not good, you change. If your party is not doing well and you feel that you won’t be fulfilled in that party, you change.
“That does not mean somebody is pushing you. It is a self-decision. The Constitution is clear – freedom of association. So, it’s not somebody that will force you to join a political party.
