The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, a suspect wanted by the Nigeria Police Enugu State Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing.
The Comptroller General of the NIS, KN Nandap, made this known in a statement issued on May 29, 2025, confirming that Obieze was apprehended by Immigration officers while attempting to flee the country.
According to reports, Obieze, a resident of Umuojior village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, and a known native doctor, is allegedly linked to the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl on May 27, 2025. The girl was said to have been abducted by a group of three men while walking with her father to the farm. She was later rescued by police officers from a shrine believed to be connected to Obieze.
A national newspaper had earlier reported the rescue operation on May 28, 2025.

The suspect was intercepted by vigilant officers of the NIS Lagos State Border Patrol Command at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road while trying to escape on a motorcycle. His identity was verified using a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment slip found in his possession.
“During initial questioning, he admitted to the alleged crimes,” the statement noted.
The Nigeria Immigration Service is currently collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force to ensure a smooth handover of the suspect and to support ongoing investigations.
“This arrest underscores the NIS’s commitment to border security and its resolve to assist law enforcement agencies in apprehending criminal suspects,” said ACI As Akinlabi, Public Relations Officer, Service Headquarters, Abuja.
