The Minister of Innovation, Science and technology, Mr. Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji has resigned his position.
The Minister who has been enmeshed in certificate forgery scandal tendered his resignation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday.
According to a terse statement issued on Tuesday evening by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the president has accepted the resignation of the Enugu State born former Minister and thanked him for his service to the nation.
Part of the statement reads:
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following some allegations against him.

“President Tinubu appointed Nnaji in August 2023.
“He resigned today in a letter thanking the President for allowing him to serve Nigeria.
Nnaji said he has been a target of blackmail by political opponents.
“President Tinubu thanked him for his service and wished him well in future endeavours.”
FACTSHEET reported that the embattled former minister is a court document filed at the Federal High Court Abuja admitted that he was never issued any degree certificate by the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
A newspaper investigation revealed that both the degree certificate and NYSC discharge certificate presented to the National Assembly by the former minister were all forged.
