Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu on Friday, April 17, 2026, met with the Apostolic Nuncio and Ambassador of the Holy See to Nigeria, Archbishop Michael Crotty, in her office.
She reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to fostering cordial and mutually beneficial relations with the Holy See, under the Holy Father’s leadership, especially in the areas of Interreligious Dialogue, Health, Culture, Education, Pilgrimage, Tourism, Migration and Counter-terrorism.
They also talked about the Holy See liaising more with the Republic of Italy on the issuance of visas for eligible Nigerian pilgrims wishing to visit the Vatican.

She highlighted the efforts of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu in strengthening the country’s democracy and repositioning its economy.
The Minister further debunked the exaggeration of Nigeria’s security situation in the international media, especially the issue of Christian genocide when actually, the attacks were not on any particular sect or religion. She stated that insecurity in the country was being addressed.
She expressed the Federal Government’s appreciation on the various efforts by the Vatican to ensure world peace.
