In preparation for the 2025 Easter celebration, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed combat-ready personnel and equipment to various churches and recreational centres across Abuja.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the deployment is a proactive security measure aimed at complementing conventional policing strategies during the holiday period.
“This operation includes visibility policing, strategic positioning of intelligence assets, vehicular and foot patrols, as well as monitoring operations designed to swiftly detect and deter criminal activity,” the statement read.

To bolster security at public spaces, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams will also conduct security sweeps in parks and other major recreational areas to prevent any potential threats or breaches.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, while felicitating with Christian faithful, called for reflection and unity during the Easter season. “Easter is a time of solemn reflection and prayer. I urge residents to use this opportunity to promote peace, unity, and tolerance,” he said.
CP Adewale further appealed to residents to shun crime and support law enforcement efforts. “Religious leaders should use their platforms to preach peaceful coexistence. We all have a role to play in ensuring a safe society,” he added.
The Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety before, during, and after the festivities, and called for maximum cooperation with security agencies. He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
