The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of a social media content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, over alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency.
According to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Sa’ad was apprehended following the circulation of a video in which he was seen throwing naira notes on the floor, stepping on them, and issuing a provocative challenge to EFCC officials in Hausa language, daring them to arrest him.
The video, shared via his TikTok and Instagram accounts under the handle @youngcee0066, sparked outrage and prompted swift surveillance by the anti-graft agency. He was eventually tracked and arrested in the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State.

Following his arrest, Sa’ad was transported to the EFCC’s Kaduna office for interrogation. The Commission stated that he would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The EFCC has repeatedly emphasized that abuse of the naira which includes spraying, mutilating, or stepping on the currency violates existing financial regulations and carries legal consequences.
The Commission urged Nigerians, particularly content creators and event organizers, to respect the nation’s currency and refrain from acts that could amount to economic sabotage or public incitement.
