The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its chairmanship primaries ahead of the July 12, 2025 local government elections, producing 55 candidates across the state’s 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs). However, the process was not without controversy.
Some aspirants and their supporters staged protests at various locations, citing irregularities in the conduct of the primaries. The Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Babatunde Ogala, acknowledged the protests, attributing them to possible human errors during the exercise.
Ogala in a statement on saturday urged aggrieved aspirants to channel their complaints to the party’s Appeal Committee, emphasizing that valid evidence could overturn contested outcomes.
Despite the uproar, the party announced that it successfully conducted the primaries and affirmed four consensus chairmanship candidates:
Isa Abiola Jibril (Iba LCDA)
Azeez Karim (Oto-Awori LCDA)
Motunrayo Alogba (Ijede LCDA)
Rasaq Bamidele Kasali (Lekki LCDA)
According to party officials, these candidates were endorsed by local party stakeholders in the presence of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) observers.
