Renowned Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, is dead.
The deceased philanthropist was aged 94.
The death of the Kano born businessman was confirmed by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid in a statement shared on the social media
“It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata
“May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings.

“The Janazah details will be shared later insha Allah,” the statement read.
Alhaji Aminu Dantata was the founder of Express Petroleum & Gas Company Ltd, He was also the brother of Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s grandfather
Late Dantata was born on on May 19, 1931, Dantata was a scion of the influential Dantata family and son of Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, one of West Africa’s wealthiest merchants in the early 20th century.
His businesses later expanded to other sectors including engineering servoces, construction, real estate, banking, agriculture, manufacturing and energy services.
He lived a later part of his life engaged in philanthropic causes.
He was a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee that prepared Nigeria’s 1979 Constitution. In his home state of Kano, he served in various capacities and also mentored hundreds of young entrepreneurs.
