Former Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi State, Dr. Augustine Alugbala Nwazunku is dead.
Dr. Nwazunku, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP was until his death a Consultant and Associate Professor of Environmental Health at Faculty of Health Sciences of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
Confirming the death of the former PDP Chairman in a statement on Thursday, the Deputy governorship candidate of the PDP in the 2023 general elections in Ebonyi State, Senator Paulinus Igwenwagu announced that the party has cancelled all scheduled party activities as a sign of respect to the deceased.

The statement reads in part:
“Good morning PDP family particularly state chapter , on behalf of our leader H E DR IFEANYI CHUKWUMA ODII and entire Ebonyi PDP , we hereby inform you that we have again lost one of us , a leader and dependable member and fmr caretaker Chairman of our Party in Ebonyi state, In the person of Professor Augustine Nwazunku.
“In the light of the above , all meetings and any other activities is suspended on Saturday 28th June 2025 in honor of our own. We are invited to Assemble at Aristocrat Hotel along Ezza for on ward movement to pay a condolence to the family and pray for his soul.”
