Akpabio Fetes Constituents, Awards N.5 million Scholarship to 37 Students

 

The President of the Senate,  Chief Godswill Akpabio,  on Friday, January 19, paid a new year visit to his constituents at Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District.

The event hosted at the Ati Annang Hall, Library Avenue in Ikot Ekpene local government area, had in attendance, the wife of the Senate President, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, and other senators of the Federal Republic.

Speaking at the event, Dr Akpabio said he was there to share the joy of the new year with his constituents whose massive support and votes took him to the Senate, where he further gained the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his colleagues to emerge the Senate President.

Calling on them to sustain their support for the party, Godswill Akpabio told his constituents that the APC-led administration was doing everything possible to renew the hopes of Nigerians to give them a better life.

He said as the chairman of the National Assembly, his duty was to interface with other arms of government to ensure that dividends of democracy get to them.

While presenting laptops and N500 thousand scholarship grants to 37 beneficiaries selected from 10 local government areas of the Senatorial District, Dr Akpabio congratulated them for emerging out of the rigorous screening process.

“I am glad that you have shown brilliance by qualifying for this scholarship, after the screening process. This grant shall be a yearly gesture from my office throughout your four years of study”, he said.

In his remarks, the State Chairman of APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo said Sen. Akpabio has stabilised the legislative arm of government to entrench synergy with other arms for a better Nigeria.

Describing Godswill Akpabio “as not only being a pride of Akwa Ibom, but also a worthy ambassador”, Ntukekpo said the Senate President has fulfilled his promise of connecting the state with the centre, through the various engagements of Akwa Ibom citizens in top national MDAs and parastatal.

Among the dignitaries that witnessed the event were fellow senators including Sen. Barry Mkpighi, Sen. Eteng William, Sen. Lamido Ibrahim, Sen. Osita Ngwu, Sen. Onyekachi Nwaebuayi, Sen. Ita Enang, among others.
