Ahead of Enugu Gov’s Defection to APC, Ude-Okoye Resigns from PDP

A former National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon SKE Ude-Okye has announced his resignation from the party.

Ude-Okoye, an ally of the governor of Enugu State, Mr. Peter Mbah, until recently was locked in a battle with the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu over who is the authentic national secretary of the party.

After a lengthy legal battle, the Supreme court ruled in favour of Senator Anyanwu affirming him as the authentic National Secretary of the  PDP.

In his resignation letter dated October 13, 2025 and addressed to the PDP Chairman, Agbogugu Ward, Awgu LGA of Enugu State,  Hon. Ude-Okoye stated that he was “parting ways” with the PDP  because the party has “strayed so far from its original  purpose.” Continuing, Ude-Okoye stated that he was embarking on a “progressive journey.”

During the heat of the altercations over the seat of PDP national secretary, Ude-Okoye had mobilised thugs to attack PDP leaders, but the staff of the party secretariat succeeded in throwing him out of the premises.

FACTSHEET reported that Governor Peter Mbah has concluded all plans to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Barring any last-minute changes, Mr. Mbah, his entire cabinet and PDP structure in all the local governments in Enugu State are scheduled to officially declare for the APC on Tuesday October 14, 2025.
