The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 98 suspected internet fraudsters in separate operations carried out in Enugu and Kwara States.
According to a statement from the Commission, operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate apprehended 51 suspects comprising 48 males and three females in the Premier Layout area of Enugu. Items recovered during the operation include 18 luxury cars, several laptop computers, and high-end mobile phones.
In a coordinated effort, the Ilorin Zonal Directorate arrested 47 suspects across multiple locations including Awolowo Road, Tanke, Harmony Estate, Ganmo, and Amoyo in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. Recovered items from the Kwara arrests include 10 luxury cars, 18 laptops, 74 premium mobile phones, and a motorcycle.
“The arrests followed credible intelligence linking the individuals to internet-related fraudulent activities,” the EFCC stated.
The Commission further noted that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
