Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is set to join opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Indications emerged on Saturday that the Northeast state governor, an ally of the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde has obtained the membership card of the ADC.
emerged that Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, may be weighing a defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Fintiri was the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the ill-fated factional national convention hosted in Ibadan by the Governor Makinde.

It will be recalled that Governor Fintiri had called on the factional PDP let by Mr. Makinde to stop the convention owing to the fact that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not on hand to monitor the convention as required by extant electoral laws.
A member of the Makinde led faction of the PDP which produced Mr. Taminu Turaki as its National Chairman told FACTSHEET on Sunday that on the condition of anonymity that Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State is also set to abandon the Makinde camp for the ADC.
INEC had categorically informed the Turaki -led faction of the PDP that it cannot be recognised due to court judgements that invalidated the Ibadan convention which has been described as an “owanbe party” by other members and leaders of the PDP.
Governor Fintiri would become the first governor to join the ADC
