The statement indicates that the G20 meeting is scheduled for November 22–23 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre.

The event will bring together leaders of the world’s largest economies, as well as the European Union, African Union and key global financial institutions. President Donald Trump of the United States had earlier announced that he would not be attending the event in protest against “ white” persecution in the nation that was ruled by racist white people  under Apartheid governments up to 1994.

President Trump also disagrees with the G20 Summits theme of  “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability, especially for developing and economically vulnerable nations.

Explaning the importance of the summit, Onanuga’s statement disclosed that”  The two-day summit will afford participants the opportunity to deliberate extensively during three plenary sessions devoted to inclusive and sustainable growth, leaving no one behind, trade, development financing, the debt burden, disaster risk reduction, climate change, just energy transitions, food systems, and a fair and just future for all.

President Tinubu is also expected to hold a series of bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the summit.

Also, Onanuga noted that these meetings will be held “in furtherance of the Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as to discuss regional and international peace, security, and development.”

He further explained that once the G20 engagements conclude, Tinubu will proceed to Luanda for the 7th African Union–European Union Summit, slated for November 24–25, 2025. The forum will gather leaders from both continents to deepen cooperation on strategic priorities.

According to him, the AU–EU meeting will feature extensive consultations with youth groups, civil society organisations and innovators.

He stated that “The summit will bring together young leaders, innovators and Civil Society Organisations to brainstorm on shared challenges,” Onanuga said, adding that deliberations will centre on “climate change, inclusivity in development, infrastructure, the digital economy, the creative industry, manufacturing, and agribusiness.”
