Rival Gangs Clash in Lagos, Set Ablaze Ile Epo Market on Fire

Gangs engaged in supremacy fight have destroyed property worth several millions in Ile Epo market, in the Abule Egba surbub of Lagos State.

 

Eye witness accounts indicate that fight ensued between rival gangs in the area on Wednesday night and  has lasted till Thursday morning resulting in the burning down of several shops in the market.

Residents of the area told journalists that efforts of the Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigerian Police were rebuffed by the warring gangs who attacked the rescuers with stones and other dangerous weapons thereby preventing efforts to save the market.

Reports from the area also indicate that many people were injured in the clash.

Both Lagos State Government and the police have not responded to calls at press time.
