Pensioners in Abia State have expressed their happiness to the Governor Alex Otti led government for paying the backlog of pension owed them by previous administrations.
Governor Otti had on Thursday in Aba announced that pensioners in the state would start receiving their pension from that day.
Otti while addressing parishioners at Christ The King Catholic Church (CKC) said, “some of you (Pensioners) have been owed since 2014. At the end of today (Thursday, March 28, 2024), all of you will smile. Check your accounts at the end of business today.”
Confirming the pension payment several pensioners in the state who spoke to journalists affirmed that they have started receiving alerts of the accumulated pension.
