President Tinubu Chairs Second FEC Meeting

President Bola Tinubu is currently chairing the second Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting since he became Nigeria’s president.

 

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima will be absent in today’s FEC meeting as he left for China on Sunday to represent the president at the 3rd Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Also, today’s meeting will feature the complete presence of the 48 ministers appointed by Mr. President.

Tinubu elected to hold FEC meetings on Mondays, a clear depature from Wednesdays that used to be the day for FEC meetings in previous administrations.

In a statement by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, several Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants will also attend today’s meeting.

The FEC is expected to evaluate the progress made by the President since he took office, especially those meant to ameliorate the effect of the removal of petroleum subsidy.

Three ministers recently confirmed by the Senate will be attending their first FEC meeting today, they are, Balarabe Abbas Lawal (Kaduna), Jamila Bio Ibrahim (Kwara) and Ayodele Olawande (Ondo).

Also attending the FEC meeting are the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF); the National Security Adviser; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; the Chief of Staff to the President and many executive principal officers.
