Former federal lawmaker and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Dino Melaye has decried the uncontrolled borrowing by the government of President Bola Tinubunoting that the current administration has borrowed more than any government in Nigerian history.
Senator Melaye who spoke at a world press conference addressed by the African Democratic Congress National Legislators Serving and Former Forum (ADC-NF) at the Shehu Misa Yar’dua Centre, Abuja on Tuesday noted that while “late President Muhammadu Buhari [about] N8.7trillion in eight years, Presodent Bola Tinubu has borrowed N157 trillion in about three years.”
Senator Melaye who called on Nigerians to “speak out”against the undemocratic excesses of the President and his aides and supporters also declared that President Tinubu’s government was riddled with corruption and thievery.
He cited the case of the coastal road project being promoted by the government where a “N13 trillion project was awarded to a crony and personal friend of the president without going through due process of bidding.”

Melaye stated that “President Tinubu awarded the second highest honour of Nigeria reserved for the Vice President to his personal friend, Mr. Chagoury” with impunity.
