The Sokoto State National and State Houses of Assembly election petitions tribunal has nullified the election Hon. Umar Yusuf Yabo Danmaje, the lawmaker representing Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency of Sokoto State.
The tribunal in a unanimous judgement on Monday declared the election of the lawmaker null and void for not conforming with the electoral guidelines.
Delivering judgement in Sokoto, the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ashu A. Ewah, held that rerun election held on February 3, 2024 was marred by irregularities.
The judgement which was a unanimous one subsequently directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to withdraw the certificate of return issued the Danmaje and conduct a fresh election within 90 days.
Danmaje is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
