President Bola Tinubu has sacked the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and in his place appointed Mr. Tunji Disu as the new IGP.
Utntil his appointment, Tunji Disu was an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).
Mr. Egbetokun whose had earlier attained the statutory retirement threshold in the service was said to have been asked to resign after a closed-door meeting at the presidential Villa on Tuesday.
Egbetokun was appointed on June 19, 2023, as the 22nd Inspector General of Police in acting capacity, he was later confirmed a substantive IGP on October 31, 2023.
