Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as “Portable”, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations that include threat to life and criminal defamation, following a formal petition by Mr. Okunola Saheed, also known as “Osupa”.
In a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Police Command Portable SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi was picked up by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, 2025, at approximately 7:25 PM. His arrest comes on the heels of a petition that accuses the artist of multiple serious offenses, including threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and use of abusive language.
“Considering the gravity of the allegations and the accompanying evidence, we had no option but to act swiftly,” said SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the Command. “A Magistrate Court in Ilorin issued a valid warrant for his arrest, and our officers followed due process in apprehending the suspect.”

The police noted that Portable’s statement has been obtained in the presence of legal counsel from both parties. He is currently in custody in Ilorin as preparations are underway for his arraignment.
The petition, filed by Okunola Saheed, reportedly outlines a series of threats and defamatory remarks made by the singer. “No one is above the law,” Saheed was quoted as saying in his statement to the authorities. “I believe the police will ensure justice is done.”
The police have appealed to the public to avoid speculation and allow the legal process to unfold. “We remain committed to upholding the rule of law,” Ejire-Adeyemi emphasized. “We ask the public to remain calm and await official updates.”
This marks yet another controversial chapter in Portable’s career, known for his outspoken personality and history of public confrontations.
