Sack Dapo Segun Over His Involvement in Refinery Repair, OVH Acquisition -Oduduwa Youth Tells Tinubu

Oduduwa Youths have asked President Bola Tinubu and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) to sack  the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NNPC Limited, Dapo Segun

for his involvement in the country’s refinery rehabilitation projects and NNPCL’s acquisition of OVH Energy scam.

The youths said Segun who was the Executive Vice President, Downstream in the NNPCL have his hands soiled in the refinery rehabilitation and the OVH saga, hence he should be caused to resign or outright removed to pave the way for uninterrupted investigations into those issues.

In a statement issued  in Abuja and signed by Comrade Ade Balogun on behalf of the Oduduwa Youths noted the recent resolve of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of funds by former senior officials of NNPCL which included those connected with refinery rehabilitation but excluding the then Executive Vice President, Downstream.

“We recall that recently EFCC had in a letter addressed to the Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPCL formally requested documents related to an ongoing probe. The letter, titled “Investigation Activities Request for Information”, referenced number CR:3000/EFCC/ABJ/HQ/SDC.2/NNPC/VOL.1/698, stated:

“The Commission said is investigating a case of Abuse of Office and Misappropriation of Funds in which the under-listed officials of NNPCL featured. It listed the 14 individuals involved in the investigation, as: Abubakar Lawal Yar’Adua, Mele Kolo Kyari, Isiaka Abdulrazak, Umar Ajiya, Dikko Ahmed, Ibrahim Onoja, amongst others.

“We are however shocked to the marrow that Segun’s name was conspicuously missing from the EFCC’s list of individuals under the probe. As Executive Vice President for the downstream, he was directly responsible for refinery operations, shipping, trading, and treasury which areas now under investigation.

“As a result of his position in the last NNPCL’s management, the current CFO is supposed to be at the centre of the investigation because he sat over the departments currently under scrutiny and managed transactions that called for the investigation.

“Also, Segun was equally at helms of NNPCL’s acquisition of OVH Energy in which the whooping sum of $325.09 million (N140.559 billion) was paid but full take over remains a subject of controversy still under investigation in the House of Representatives.

“Just one week ago, the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources(Downstream)

set Technical Sub-Committees to aid the larger Committee in the carrying out of its functions including investigation of Turnaround maintenance of refineries /state of the refineries and OVH Acquisition and complaints from NNPC Retail Staff/House ordered re-investigation.

“The efforts by the two arms of government; the executive through the EFCC and the legislature through the House Committee (Technical Sub-Committees) will be in futility if the big elephant in the room, Dapo is allowed to hold on to the position of NNPCL CFO and fight within. Therefore, he should be shown the way out.”
